Job Description

Project Engineer

$120K - $150K + Super + Vehicle + Bonus

DIDO 2/1 Roster

Step into a Project Engineer role where your work is visible, valued and tied to essential infrastructure that supports regional growth. This is a chance to join a privately owned civil contractor with a strong pipeline, a practical site culture, and a genuine track record of backing engineers to grow.

“Good brand and excellent employees to work with” – Site Manager

What Sets This Role Apart

  • This role is valuable because you will be joining a secure, long-term infrastructure program rather than chasing short-term project work, giving you stability and a clear runway to keep developing.
  • You will build complex civil and water infrastructure that matters, including deep services, structures, pipelines and technically challenging delivery methods that sharpen your project engineering capability.
  • You will learn directly from experienced project leaders who are known for mentoring, backing their team and creating a positive, no-nonsense site environment.
  • You will own meaningful pieces of project delivery, from planning and lookaheads through to technical queries, procurement, quality, subcontractor coordination and risk management.
  • You will influence outcomes on site by working closely with supervisors, subcontractors and the broader project team to keep delivery safe, practical and on track.
  • You will become stronger at programming, sequencing, quality, commercial awareness, stakeholder coordination and problem-solving on live infrastructure works.
  • You will be closer to long-term career progression, broader project exposure, and future opportunities across Australia and New Zealand.
  • You will be able to say you did essential infrastructure work that contributed to future community growth.

What You’ll Be Trusted With

  • Take ownership of self-performed civil and structural works, giving you hands-on exposure across key parts of project delivery.
  • Help ensure works are delivered safely, to specification, and within budget and program.
  • Prepare, monitor and update weekly and monthly plans so the project team has clear visibility of what needs to happen next.
  • Provide engineering and technical advice on site, giving you the opportunity to become a trusted problem-solver rather than a back-office engineer.
  • Support procurement of key subcontractors and suppliers, strengthening your commercial understanding and supplier coordination skills.
  • Drive quality requirements and documentation so work is delivered right the first time.
  • Contribute to programming, sequencing and 4-week lookaheads across labour, plant and scope.
  • Identify delivery risks early and work with the site team to resolve issues before they affect progress.
  • Coordinate subcontractor claims, variations, delays and extension-of-time requirements, helping you build stronger contract administration capability.
  • Work alongside supervisors to connect engineering intent with practical, best-for-project delivery on site.

What’s in it for You

  • More life built into the roster: DIDO 2/1 arrangement with camp, meals and bus provided.
  • Security: permanent role with a growing civil contractor and a government-funded pipeline through to 2028.
  • Career growth: genuine progression opportunity in a business known for promoting from within and giving people a chance to step up.
  • Better team environment: a positive, practical, no-nonsense culture where engineers are supported by experienced leaders and site teams.
  • Extra benefits: additional leave, a mature approach to flexibility and sponsorship available for the right candidate.

“Good salary and benefits for employees. They’re a good bunch of people to work with.”

 About You

  • You hold a Civil Engineering degree or similar qualification.
  • You bring around 2-5 years’ experience as an engineer on civil infrastructure projects.
  • You can read and interpret civil, structural and services drawings.
  • You are confident managing and raising technical queries.
  • You understand construction scheduling, sequencing and quality control systems.
  • You have a strong safety record and take pride in delivering work to a high standard.
  • You suit a hands-on environment where you can take ownership, work closely with site teams and keep learning.

About the Company

This privately owned civil construction business delivers high-quality civil engineering and construction services across Australia and New Zealand. With a strong track record supporting Tier 1 and government clients, the business offers the best of both worlds: the stability of a strong pipeline and the visibility, ownership and team connection that can be harder to find in larger organisations.

  • A strong pipeline of government-funded infrastructure work.
  • A reputation for self-performing work, which means engineers stay close to the action and learn the practical realities of delivery.
  • A hands-on environment where ownership, accountability and autonomy are encouraged.
  • A culture that values flexibility, work-life balance, long-term growth and practical support from experienced leaders.
