The role you are employed in includes but is not limited to the following: -
- Be a positive and professional representative of Pensar when dealing with all stakeholders
- Conduct follow up procedures once a tender proposal has been submitted and when instructed
- Ensure all assigned tasks are completed in a safe, environmentally responsible, efficient, commercially aware and timely manner
- Assist site staff to conduct project risk assessments and define necessary control measures
- Support the Project Manager to effectively review and monitor project progress and management in accordance with project management plans
- Organise Project Team Site Meetings with assistance of Supervisors/ Foremen
- Assist the Project Manager to collate and submit all time sheets and monthly man hours
- Assist site staff with the induction and training procedures.
- Prepare records for post-completion project review with Project Manager
- Identification of safety and environmental issues and hazards
- Approval of safety and environmental control measures
- Maintenance of project records including IMS records
- Assist with procurement of suppliers and subcontractors and review their performance
- Tracking of daily production and costs for review with Project Manager
- Issue and maintain all relevant RFI, EOT and Variation registers within the project
- Assist with the management/distribution of all drawings and the maintenance of the necessary registers.
- Participate in the preparation and planning of the daily pre-start meeting for implementation the following morning. Including Permit to Excavate and Confined Space permits.
- Assist Supervisor/Foreman in timely conduct of all inspections and tests as per Inspection & Test Plans (ITP’s), including notifications associated with Witness and Hold Points.
- Gather information to assist with the preparation of the progress claims, end of month financial data for review with Construction Manager
- Assist with the processing of all project invoices
- Monitor project construction program
- Establish and maintain clear lines of communication with client, consultants, suppliers, sub-contractors and field staff
Safety Responsibilities:
- Lead by example in ensuring all safety requirements are implemented and met;
- Conduct project risk assessments and define necessary control measures;
- Help to develop project WHSMP, for review by Construction / Project Manager;
- Set up project safety/foreman folders, including all printing and assembly;
- Manage sub-contractor SWMS and plant service histories process;
- Manage Traffic Control Scheme and Permits, as required;
- Manage work permit process, including drawings and asset owner advise as required;
- Order project set up materials.
Environmental Responsibilities:
- Help develop environmental management plans, for review by Construction / Project Manager;
- Liaise with the Foreman to develop and maintain environmental control drawings;
- Ensure fire ant procedures are developed, implemented and maintained;
- Complete dilapidation reports as required.
Quality Responsibilities:
- Help develop quality management plans, for review by Construction / Project Manager;
- Responsible for management and distribution of all drawings including maintenance of the necessary registers;
- Ensure ITP’s are developed and documented for review, as required;
- Develop and complete a QA package for each project.
Financial responsibilities:
- Sign off invoices;
- Enter dockets into Manaject;
- Set up Cost Codes in Manaject;
- Budget comparisons for bulk orders;
- Organise insurances and bank guarantees through Accounts Department;
- Draft sub-contract agreements for review;
- Update trackers;
- Update claim throughout the month;
- Produce project trading statements;
- Produce project summary sheets;
- Develop end of month summary sheet for each project;
- Issue and maintain all relevant RFI, EOT and Variation registers within the project.
Role purpose
The role would be one in which they would be responsible for the direct project management of projects under one of our current staff EG Construction Manager (Jeremy) or PM . More often than not you will be working as part of a larger engineering team on a larger projects. The work will all be all Regionally based with scopes relating to Infrastructure relating to Resources, Water and Energy sectors.

When not away on site you can base yourself out of the Regional Infrastructure office at Coolum Beach, Head Office in Fortitude Valley or the Gold Coast office.
Your Project
Hanlon Street Pump Station Upgrade the Sewer Pump Station Renewals project showcases Pensar's expertise in upgrading existing sewer pump stations, which may reflect similar construction and engineering approach. Commencing in November 2024, the upgrade involves constructing a new sewage pump station adjacent to the existing facility. Once operational, the old station will be decommissioned. The project aims to enhance wastewater services, improve flood resilience, and accommodate future growth in the area.
Other Projects
The Rookwood Weir Fishway project is helping fish species move safely and more freely in the Lower Fitzroy River system. As part of the project’s environmental offset strategy, a $7 million fishway is to be added to the Fitzroy Barrage, located at Rockhampton, downstream of the weir. Construction of the fishway will support 12 jobs and provide 31 native fish species access to 545 hectares of habitat.

Wamuran Irrigation Scheme Project
- The $100 million project sees Pensar designing and building a network of pipelines, pump stations and reservoirs to deliver recycled water from the Caboolture WTP to the Wamuran Valley some 25km away.
- The system will deliver more than 2.6 gigalitres of Class A water per year to the region’s growers – reusing a valuable resource and diverting discharge from local river systems.
- Unity Water engaged the WIS JV (Pensar is a partner) to design and deliver the scheme infrastructure.

Patrick Newell – COO
Pat is one of the brightest most energetic professionals you will meet. He has boundless enthusiasm and can’t help but move at pace. Pat started his journey with Pensar as a Graduate Engineer in 2009, after working on Civil projects he launched the Pensar Water business and turned it into the darling of the roup in terms of culture, customer satisfaction and profit. Pat has recently been promoted to COO and I am sure he will be a wild success in the role. Pat is a sporty individual, he loves the All Blacks and is often found training for a challenging athletic pursuit like a triathlon. Away from work he is a great Dad to his two young kids.
Michael Bissett – Director
Michael is a Director of Pensar Infrastructure, this is his second stint with the company and he is responsible for winning and delivering some of the most challenging and profitable projects in Pensar’s history. Michael started his career with Leighton Contractors (now CPB) and worked on massive infrastructure projects in Australia and Southeast Asia. He is one of the brightest and most committed individuals you could meet in the industry. He has hands on involvement in all tenders and will be a great support and mentor to the successful candidate.
Jeremy Goodacre – Construction Manager
Jeremy is 5 years into his second stint with Pensar and is a practical person with strong communication skills and a down to earth leadership style. Very good at planning projects, staging and methodology input to tenders so he will be critical to the success of the Estimator’s role working in collaboration.
