Contract or Permanent full-time employment

Step into a commercial leadership role where your decisions will help shape a major transport precinct.

We’re partnering with a fast-growing infrastructure advisory business to appoint a Commercial Manager for a high-profile, client-side transport assignment in Brisbane. If you’re ready to move beyond “business as usual” contract management and into a role where your commercial judgement genuinely influences outcomes, this is an opportunity worth exploring.

The wonderful working culture fosters a supportive & collaborative environment & provides ample opportunity for growth.

What Sets This Role Apart

This role puts you close to the decisions that matter: commercial strategy, contractor relationships, risk, performance and successful handover on a complex transport infrastructure program. You’ll join a tight-knit advisory team with strong client endorsement, a growing pipeline and a reputation for punching above its weight against larger firms.

This is a chance to be trusted with meaningful responsibility, deepen your client-side experience and be part of a business where your contribution is visible.

"I appreciate the encouraging and collaborative work environment. We are completely trusted to get the job done, which sometimes pushes us out of our comfort zones, but also rewards us with achievements we didn’t think we were capable of.”

What You’ll Do

The contracts are signed, the entitlements and obligations are set, now the real fun starts.

As Commercial Manager, you’ll act as the client’s representative on a major transport infrastructure project, leading the commercial and contractual management required to protect value, manage risk and support successful delivery. You’ll work across delivery, finance, legal, procurement and project controls, while leading a capable commercial team and maintaining a productive downstream relationship with the delivery partner.

  • Lead commercial and contract management activities across the project.
  • Manage variations, claims, provisional sums and contractual negotiations.
  • Drive forecasting, cost management and commercial reporting.
  • Oversee contractor performance, risk management and dispute resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with governance, contractual frameworks and commercial processes.
  • Partner with project delivery, finance, legal, procurement and project controls teams.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing commercial team.

About You

You’ll suit this role if you’re commercially sharp, confident in complex contractor environments and motivated by work where your advice has real consequence. You bring the judgement to manage risk, the communication style to build trust, and the leadership capability to guide a small but capable team through a critical delivery phase.

  • Significant experience in commercial or contract management on major infrastructure, rail, construction or transport projects.
  • Strong expertise in contract administration, variations, claims, commercial negotiations and risk management.
  • Proven leadership experience managing commercial teams and contractor relationships.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in forecasting, cost control and project close-out.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Commerce, Law, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline.

About the Company

You’ll be joining an emerging infrastructure advisory business with a strong reputation for technically grounded commercial solutions, pragmatic advice and collaborative delivery. The team is deliberately tight-knit, highly experienced and values-led, giving you the benefit of working close to senior leaders, trusted clients and major infrastructure opportunities without getting lost in a large corporate structure.

“They prioritise the building of the team and have shown great care and appreciation for their employees. In an industry where many companies focus on rapid expansion, their emphasis on investing in their team has allowed them to grow in a sustainable manner.”
